Curriculum Reform in Poland: Implications for All Levels of Education This session will start with a brief video-summary of the Workshop Day presenting key learnings and reflections from workshops that explored a variety of issues in curriculum development, such as student agency, teacher development, pedagogies for global challenges and diverse student groups, digitalisation of education and the connection of education to the labour market. Next, experts will address critical challenges in the Polish education system, focusing on declining student well-being and academic performance. The proposed reforms, based on recent PISA data, will introduce a new curriculum that emphasises both academic and personal development, with key competencies like critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. The emerging Graduate Profile envisions Polish school graduates as individuals equipped with the knowledge, skills, and agency to thrive in an unpredictable world, capable of lifelong learning and contributing to society. Based on the idea of a Graduate Profile design, invited speakers will engage in a discussion to explore the nexus between primary, secondary, and higher education, highlighting how these levels interconnect and influence each other. This will serve as a starting point for a dialogue between school education and university education on such issues as student-centred continuous pedagogies in higher education, alignment with assessment and skills for the labour market. Attendees will have a chance to ask questions and engage with the speakers on applying these insights to their own contexts. |
