Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS)

PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) – The Progress in International Reading Literacy Study is an international, cyclical programme to measure students’ school achievement.

The study is conducted every five years (the first edition was conducted in 2001) and is one of the largest educational achievement research projects in the world.

The survey is organised by the International Association for the Measurement of School Achievement – IEA, based in Amsterdam.
