The labour demand forecast for vocational education professions

The Ministry of National Education has announced the labour demand forecast for vocational education professions for 2026. The document was based on analyses and data processing procedures developed by the Educational Research Institute – National Research Institute.

The aim of the forecast is to indicate the direction in which vocational education provision should develop, thereby influencing the planning of vocational training and the system of funding for schools and employers. The forecast is divided into two parts—national and regional. It specifies the demand for workers in individual occupations, listed in alphabetical order.

Occupations of particular importance for the country’s development

Automation technician, concrete worker and steel fixer, carpenter, roofer, electromechanic, electrician, driver-mechanic, machine and equipment mechanic-fitter, mechatronics technician, industrial insulation fitter, building structure fitter, railway track fitter, joinery fitter, operator of earthworks and road construction machinery and equipment, operator of waste management machinery and equipment, care worker in a social care home, machine tool operator, automation technician, railway traffic control automation technician, road construction technician, roofing technician, rail transport electrical power technician, electro-mobility technician, electrical technician, energy technician, property management technician, waste management technician, industrial insulation technician, mechanical technician, mechatronics technician, building joinery assembly and automation technician, robotics technician, welding technician, rail transport technician.

In 2026, the property management technician appeared on the list for the first time, a response to the growing needs of the housing market and commercial sector.

The forecast is the result of an integrated analysis of administrative, educational, and economic data. The methodology was developed by IBE PIB, which:

  • integrates data from public statistics (including Statistics Poland),
  • uses information from the Social Insurance Institution and the Education Information System,
  • takes into account the opinions of sector skills councils and the ministers responsible for the professions,
  • applies modelling procedures for the analysis of labour supply and demand over a five-year period.

It is precisely the data processing procedures developed at IBE that enable a comprehensive assessment of demographic, educational, and economic trends both at the national and regional levels. The forecast thus provides a synthetic, analytical overview of the labour market in the context of the country’s development strategy.
