We invite you to use the latest handbooks for teachers on how to support pupils to learn effectively at school and at home.
The handbooks are tailored to each educational stage and are now available to download:
- How to support pupils in self-directed learning? Handbook for teachers of grades 1–3
- How to support pupils in self-directed learning? Handbook for teachers of grades 4–8
- How to support pupils in self-directed learning? Handbook for post-primary school teachers
The handbooks are based on Polish and international research on effective learning and good educational practices. They were prepared jointly by experts from the Educational Research Institute, practising teachers from the Center for Citizenship Education and researchers from SWPS University. They contain a review of the legal basis for changes in homework and the mechanisms and determinants of learning, but above all, they have specific information and tips on how to support pupils to want and be able to learn independently. Among other things, the handbooks present the six learning strategies that research shows to be the most effective, how to plan lessons so that students get the most out of them, discuss issues such as giving feedback and motivating students. The handbooks also include lesson plans with examples of homework and specific ideas and examples from school practice.
