I. General Provisions
The editorial board of the quarterly journal “Edukacja” recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools can assist in the preparation of scholarly publications; however, they do not replace independent research, critical thinking, or the responsibility of authors, reviewers, and the editorial board.
The use of AI tools should be in accordance with the principles of scientific integrity, transparency of the publishing process, and the journal’s publication ethics.
II. Guidelines for Authors
- Authors may use AI tools solely to assist in the preparation of the manuscript, specifically for:
-
- linguistic proofreading,
- improving the style and readability of the text,
- translation,
- assisting with data analysis, provided that the methodology used is adequately described.
2. When using AI tools, authors are required to include an appropriate statement in the manuscript (in the “Methods” or “Declarations” section), specifying the name of the tool used, as well as the purpose and scope of its use.
3. Authors bear full responsibility for the content of the article, the accuracy of the data, the interpretation of research results, the conclusions, and the completeness and correctness of citations.
4. AI tools do not meet the criteria for authorship and may not be listed as authors or co-authors of a publication.
5. AI cannot replace the independent development of a research concept, the interpretation of results, or the formulation of scientific conclusions.
6. If images, figures, charts, or other materials generated using AI are used, authors are required to inform the editorial board and describe how they were prepared.
III. Guidelines for Reviewers
1. All submitted manuscripts are confidential.
2. Reviewers may not submit manuscripts or excerpts thereof to external AI tools if doing so could compromise the confidentiality of the review process or the protection of authors’ data.
3. The scientific evaluation of an article should be the result of the reviewer’s independent analysis. AI tools may not replace a substantive evaluation of the work or generate the content of a review.
IV. Guidelines for the Editorial Board
1. The Editorial Board maintains the confidentiality of all materials submitted for publication.
2. AI tools cannot replace editorial decisions regarding an article’s suitability for publication, the selection of reviewers, or the assessment of a paper’s scientific merit.
3. In justified cases, the editorial board may request additional information from authors regarding the use of AI tools during the preparation of the manuscript.
4. If undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI is detected, the editorial board may take action in accordance with the journal’s applicable ethical policy, including requesting an explanation, requiring corrections, rejecting the manuscript, or applying other procedures provided for in the editorial policy.
