IEA, the Netherlands
membership (http://www.iea.nl) Poland has reactivated its participation in the IEA (International Associationfor the Evaluation of Educational Achievement) by joining the IBE as the;Polish representative to the association. IEA is an international cooperative organization operating for over 50 years as an independent network of national research institutions and government agencies. It conducts large-scale cross-sectional comparative studies of educational achievement, including more than 30 comparative studies between countries. IEA is doing many international research in areas such as math,science, reading, civic education, knowledge about using Information and Communications Technology, teacher education with the aim of gaining in-depth understanding of the effects of policies and practices within and across systems of education. membership (www.euroclio.eu) Recognising the importance of history education, IBE joined The European Association of History Educators in January 2012. EUROCLIO promotes a responsible and innovative teaching of history based on multi-perspectivity, critical thinking, mutual respect, and the inclusion of controversial issues. The Association, founded in 1993, supports a network of over 25 000 history educators in Europe, one fourth of whom were actively involved in activities on a local, national and international level. EUROCLIO has as members almost 80 history educators’ associations and similar institutions from more than 40 countries. The Association advocates a sound use of history education towards the building and deepening of democratic societies, connecting professionals across boundaries of countries, ethnicities and religions. It seeks to enhance the quality of history and citizenship education through capacity building for educators and producing innovative teaching tools. College Board, USA
membership (http://www.collegeboard.org/) IBE has been a member of the College Board since 2010. The College Board is an independent organization registered in Washington and headquartered in New York that brings together almost 6,000 educational institutions (including schools, colleges, universities, research institutions and other educational organizations) primarily from the United States. The College Board was founded in 1900 and aims to facilitate access to higher education and improve the quality of education. The College Board is involved in the recruitment process for higher education, advising students, providing access to scholarship schemes. It also actively engages in research and educational efforts to improve American educational system. The College Board serves more than seven million students and parents, 3,800 colleges and universities in over 180 countries and territories, as well as policymakers on the US national and US state levels. It promotes excellence and equity in education through programmes for K–12 and higher education institutions, and by supporting students on their way to college, including providing help in applying for financial support. The College Board also serves the education community through research and advocacy on behalf of students, educators, schools and colleges. Worldwide, the College Board is known primarily as an institution that supervises a number of external examinations for secondary school students: SAT - standardized exam administered and supervised by the College Board and developed, published and scored by the Educational Testing Service. SAT helps to measure a student's ability in three areas: reading comprehension, mathematics and writing. SAT Subject Tests (formerly known as SAT II) - are an extension of the SAT AP (Advanced Placement) - a programme that enables high school students to participate in college level classes. CLEP (College Level Examination Program) - a system of college-level examinations providing students with the opportunity to demonstrate their academic achievement. For the Educational Research Institute the membership in the College Board association is a chance to gain experience, exchange know-how and share ideas with other College Board members.
